Afghan officials say three militants wearing suicide vests attacked a provincial council office in southern Afghanistan after a car bomb exploded outside. At least six people were killed. Sayad Ahmad, an official who works for Kandahar's provincial council, says the assault began with a car bomb explosion outside the council's office. Interior Ministry spokesman Zemeri Bashary says that three militants with suicide vests and AK-47 assault rifles then entered the office just before noon Wednesday. Bashary says that police killed two of the suicide bombers and a third one blew himself up. Bashary says five civilians and a police officer died in the assault.
