KARACHI - Law enforcement agencies have started operation against terrorists hiding in the City , sources revealed to The Nation on Tuesday. After a report from secret agencies regarding threats of terrorist attacks on sensitive installations in Karachi, the law enforcement officials have been put on high alert. Intelligence agencies had warned the provincial government that terrorists were planning attacks in various parts of the city. Source privy to the matter told The Nation that intelligence agencies have informed about the presence of local and foreigner terrorists, including members of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, in the city. Source added that police have started search operation for the arrest of these terrorists in various areas of the city. The administrations of the local hotels have been directed to avoid entertaining the customers without taking National Identity Cards and also send their data to the concerned police station on daily basis. Source further pointed out that a thorough drive for the arrest of suspect militants had been started in local hotels on Tuesday. Law enforcement agencies are also keeping a vigilant eye on the Gadap area where a number of cheap guesthouses are present and offer night stay for Rs10 to Rs25. A police official told, on condition of anonymity, that snap checking was started across the city and police officials had been directed to thoroughly check the loaded vehicles including pick-ups, trucks etc. Security arrangement of foreigners present in the city have also been beefed up, sources continued. Foreigners in Karachi have been requested to get permission before their movement in the city and do not leave the metropolis without proper police checking. Source added that federal interior ministry has directed all concerned agencies to provide foolproof security to foreigners and other high profile personalities because terrorists could kidnap them with a view to pressurise the government for the release of their fellow culprits.
