ISLAMABAD - After getting approval from Finance Division, Health Ministry has allowed the Federal Government Services Hospital (Polyclinic) to start recruitment on 368 positions laying vacant for a couple of year. The green signal has been given ahead of the new financial year, now the administration of FGSH known as Polyclinic has started paperwork for filling the positions. The position includes doctors, nurses, paramedics, technician and lab assistants. According to the sources within hospital, fresh recruitment on 368 positions would take time so it has been decided that in first phase this year 184 posts would be filled while the remaining would be filled next year. We are all set to start hiring new staff and within next few months, the procedure will be completed, the sources added. At present 28 dispensaries, 2 maternal and Child Health Cantres and two civil Surgeon Centres are also working as attached care facility of FGSH in different sectors of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Sources revealed that out of 28 dispensaries, 12 are completely under staffed and administration of FGSH is handling it within its limited capacity. The official opined that the new staff recruitments would improve working of the hospital, as it would reduce workload on present staff. While taking notice of the staff shortage administration of FGSH moved a proposal to Health Ministry, which was forwarded to the Finance Division for final approval he added. The FGSH, Islamabad was established as Central Government Polyclinic in 1966 with only 8 indoor beds attached with Rawalpindi General Hospital. It was registered as FGSH in 1986 with 253 beds. The hospital bed strength has been further enhanced over time and now it has 508 beds but its original plot size of 3.3 acres for the main building has not been extended any further.
