Qasim, Sallu top contenders for chief selector slot

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf is all set to appoint a new chief selector and so far Iqbal Qasim, Salahudin Sallu are the front-runners for the coveted post. Some corners are also mentioning the name of former legend Zaheer Abbas but the real contenders are Qasim and Sallu as both had stints as chief selector in the past too.
According to sources, Qasim has upper hand over his main rival Sallu as due to his vast experience in the international cricket as well is more associated with the domestic cricket to being the sports head of NBP. Qaism, a veteran of 50 Tests, is a well-educated person and enjoys great respect among players. The plus point for Qasim that gives him advantage over any other contender is that he is very much interconnected with domestic set up and aware of almost each and every player whether he is representing district, club or department and that’s why his name is on top. But a specific lobby wants a Karachi-based chief selector and in that case Sallu’s is favourite to be chosen for the slot.
