KARACHI - The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Tuesday claimed to have arrested three suspects allegedly involved in illegal tax refunds scam during separate raids.
According to NAB Karachi spokesperson, the two suspects allegedly involved in illegal tax refunds scam were arrested during separate raids. The suspects arrested were identified as Luqman Javed and Abdul Hameed Agar, proprietors of their respective business firms.
The spokesperson said that the accused persons are beneficiaries of illegal sales tax refunds and nominated in Reference in which DC FBR Abdul Rauf Nasir was arrested on October 25, 2017, adding that the accused persons are receivers of proceeds of offence they committed by managing tax refunds on the basis of fake and bogus invoices, incurring loss of Rs120 million in connivance with other accused persons.
Separately, in a series of raids conducted, NAB Karachi has also arrested one more accused person from limits of Delhi Mercantile Society Karachi. according to NAB spokesperson, the arrested accused named Nadir Hussain Awan proprietor of Loyal Traders is also one of the beneficiaries of illegal sales tax refunds and nominated in Reference in which DC FBR Abdul Rauf Nasir was arrested on 25 Oct 2017, adding that the arrested accused will be produced before Accountability Court today (Wednesday).
On the other side, Shah Latif police claimed to have arrested a suspect namely Abdullah from Shah Latif Town. Police said that the accused was involved in a murder case. Zaman Town Police conducted a raid at Chakra Goth and arrested a drug peddler, identified as Athar Hussain while police claimed to have recovered a cache of narcotics from possession of him. North Nazimabad, Liaqutabad and Iqbal Market police has arrested six street criminals including Javed aka Babul, Noman, Raees, Rashid and two others. Police said that weapons, snatched motorbike and other booty were recovered from possession of them.
Meanwhile, Police found a tortured mark dead body from bushes of Railway Ground within the premises of Mehmoodabad police station. Police said that unidentified assailants killed the deceased after his kidnapping from somewhere. Later the culprits threw his body at the abandon place.
Police shifted the body to morgue after medico legal formalities at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center. Police said that the deceased has yet to be identified till filing this report, however police trying to find the identification and motive behind the murder of the deceased.
