Young Doctors Association’s (YDA) Strike claimed 11 lives, including three minors while Punjab government dismissed 24 and arrested as many as 50 doctors on Monday.
Following the 15-day strike by the YDA around one dozen patients lost their life as the Doctors stopped treating patients even in the emergencies and indoor wards of major hospital in Lahore and other cities of the province while the families of the deceased demanded of the Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif to book all the doctors involved in the on going strike of the YDA.
According to details, after the failure of senior doctors to convince the YDA to call of the strike, the government started action against the YDA and arrested several member of the YDA while the YDA announced to observe black day against the arrest of several young doctors.
On the other hand, Sindh Doctors Association condemned the arrest of the YDA members and announced that it would mark black day to observe solidarity with the YDA while young doctors in Khushab, Okra and Chiniot remained present on their duties and did not participate in the strike.
Meanwhile, OPD of several hospitals in the province remained open on Monday while Pak Army’s doctors and senior government doctors remained present in the hospital.
The provincial government appointed Army ‘s doctors in government run hospitals of the province including BBH Rawalpindi, Holy family Hospital Rawalpindi and DHQ Rawalpindi,  five military doctors were appointed in each of these hospitals.
The government deployed police contingents in the hospitals to avoid any untoward incidents.
MS BBH, Dr Asif Qadir hoped that young doctors would call off the strike soon as their parents informed the hospital administration.
Advisor to CM on Health, Suleman Rafiq told media that the government was forced to take step against the young doctors as the doctors wanted to close indoor wards of the hospitals, adding that the YDA strike could endanger the people life.
He said that the provincial health department deployed around 596 new doctors across the province to tackle the crisis.
Suleman Rafiq said that in Lahore 57 new doctors were deputed in Mayo Hospital, 90 in Services Hospital, 50 in Jinnah Hospital , 27 in General Hospital , 40 in Ganga Ram Hospital, 19 in Punjab Institute of Cardiology.
In Faisalabad the government deployed 30 new doctors in KPMC, 50 in Allied Hospital and 10 in FIC hospital.
The government deployed 39 new doctors in  Holy Family hospital Rawalpindi, Six in DHQ Rawalpindi while 70 new doctors were deputed in Nishtar Hospital Multan and  76 New doctors were deployed in Sheikh Zaid Hospital Rahim Yar khan. 32 new doctors were deployed in Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur , he added.
