National consensus required on Kalabagh dam issue: Nawaz

Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) President, Mian Nawaz Sharif said Monday that national consensus is required before construction of Kalabagh dam and this problem could only be addressed if the entire nation stand united on a single decision.
Talking to reporters after addressing a function on occasion of joining of senior Pakistan Tahrik-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Federal Minister, Khwaja Muhammad Hoti here in Mardan, Mian Nawaz Sharif said building of national consensus was required before construction of the Kalabagh dam.
He said the whole nation should decide whether they need Kalabagh dam or not. He said building of national consensus on this project is required before taking any decision in this regard.
Earlier in his address, Mian Nawaz Sharif vowed to build a new, prosperous and developed Pakistan where every citizen can easily get jobs, better education and health services. After coming into power, he said Pakistan would be made an economic power and a vibrant Muslim welfare-state among comity of nations, adding that Pakistan has a great potential in every fields of life and efforts is required to fully utilise its resources. Had his elected government not overthrown in 1999, Pakistan would have achieved tremendous economic progress, he said, adding that he had taken up motorway issue with ECO countries to link Pakistan with Central Asian States (CAS) through motorways.
The PML-N leader urged the people to elect honest and upright representatives in the upcoming elections, adding he considers politics as a trust of people and never indulged in the attainment of personal interests.
Mian Nawaz Sharif said that PML-N would continue its efforts for the elimination of corruption as it was directly affecting economic growth rate and people life. He said his party had laid a strong foundation of positive and principles politics and that PML-N constructive role in completion of five years term of the present assemblies could not be overlooked.
He said Mardan would be made stronghold of PML-N as people of this region had rendered great sacrifices in the creation and development of Pakistan. Nawaz Sharif congratulated Khwaja Muhammad Khan Hoti for joining PML-N. On this occasion, PML-N senior leaders including Mehtab Ahmed Khan Abbasi, Engr Amir Muqam and Khwaja Hoti were also present. Upon arrival, Mian Nawaz Sharif was presented traditional turban and warmed welcome by PML-N workers.
