SAHIWAL -More than 2,524 development schemes are near completion in three districts of Sahiwal division at a cost of Rs5.2 billion.
Commissioner Sahiwal Division Ali Bahadur Qazi stated while addressing a meeting here the other day. He said all the development projects are being completed under Prime Minister Sustainable Development Goals Programme. The programme includes provision of clean drinking water, uninterrupted supply of electricity, sewerage and roads to facilitate over 70 million dwellers of the division.
He said that phase-I of the programme would be completed by end of December at a cost of Rs3.4 billion. Under the phase-I, 1,729 schemes are near completion - 775 in Sahiwal district with Rs1.1 billion, 525 in Okara district with Rs1.4 billion and 429 in Pakpattan with Rs797 million.
The commissioner informed that phase-II of the programme would be completed by March 2018 at a cost of Rs1.7 billion, adding that work on phase-II would be commenced with beginning of the upcoming year. Completion of the schemes would help fulfilling basic necessities of people, the commissioner pointed out.
