Trader, niece shot dead by sons’ ‘killer’

SIALKOT-A local trader and his minor niece were shot dead Gohadpur locality here by proclaimed offender (PO) Yasir alias Taina who had earlier killed the trader’s two sons during dacoity at their electronics shop about 10 months ago.
Mehar Khalid was sitting near his Havelli when some armed gunmen including a PO Yasir alias Taina opened fire, killing the trader Mehar Khalid and his niece Sehar (6) on the spot. Meanwhile, two other women Nasreen Bibi and Khalida Bibi were also injured. The injured were admitted to Govt. Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital Sialkot in critical condition.
After killing the trader, the PO performed Bhangra by shouting that he had taken the revenge of the murder of his two accomplices who had been killed in encounter with the Muradpur-Sialkot police about 10 months ago.
Earlier, PO and his two other accomplices had shot dead slain trader Mehar Khalid’s two young sons Waseem Khalid and Muqadas Khalid on resistance during a broad daylight dacoity in their electronics shop in Gohadpur-Sialkot on February 23, 2017.
The police had killed Yasir’s two companions in an encounter while Yasir alias Taina had been declared as proclaimed offender (PO) in the double murder case.
The grieved family staged an anti-police demonstration by placing the dead bodies at Gohdapur Chowk in Sialkot city. They lodged strong protest against the Muradpur police. The protesting people were seen while beating their chests. They were carrying agitational banners and placards.
The local traders also went on shutdown strike in Gohadpur area to mourn the brutal killing. They kept the traffic blocked on local roads for about five consecutive hours by burning the tyres on roads. The family also staged five-hours sit-in against the police by putting the dead bodies, saying that the police remained unable to arrest the PO who had been threatening the grieved family of the slain trader with dire consequences and killing all the members of the family.
“Muradpur police’s failure in arresting the proclaimed offender (PO) Yasir alias Taina has resulted in the loss of our family’s head too.” They said the Muradpur police’s failure in arresting the PO had taken the life of their family head. The protesting women said that they had killed all the three male members of the family in the last ten months. They urged the Punjab Chief Minister to provide the security of life to this grieved family.
While carrying the photos of the slain trader and his already slain two sons , the women urged Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Inspector General of Police Arif Nawaz and District Police Officer (DPO) Asad Sarfraz Khan to provide justice directing the police to ensure early arrest of the culprits.
The local senior police officials, later, negotiated with the protesting family and the traders and assured them about the early arrest of the accused.
Meanwhile, the traders in Gohadpur-Sialkot have warned to go on complete strike if the police not arrest the killers of the trader and his two sons. They alleged that the police had miserably failed to protect the local traders remaining failed in tracing out culprits involved in the rising theft and dacoity incidents.

Mother kills three kids; attempts suicide

HAFIZABAD-A woman killed her three children - two sons and a daughter - by throwing them into a canal and later attempted suicide by slitting open her throat and jumping into the canal. The Rescue 1122 and police confirmed all the three children drowned and search for their bodies is continued for the past 20 hours when this report was filed.
However, the women was fished out by the Rescue-1122 divers alive and shifted to local hospital where she is struggling for life. The police, however, took her into custody and registered a case against her under section 302/419/201 PPC.
According to rescue and police sources, hectic search is being carried out by the rescue divers and villagers.
The police source informed that Zareena Bibi, was married off to a brick kiln worker Abid Hussain in Hardo Bhoon village about six years back. Due to poverty and other issues, the couple often quarrelled as a result of which their relations remained strained since their marriage. The couple again had exchanged harsh words which fed up the Zareena who took her 5-year-old daughter Zara Fatima; four-year-old Muhammad Faizan and two-year-old Ahmad Raza to Jhang Brach Canal near Mona Jhal and threw them in the canal. Later, she also attempted to cut her jugular vein and attempted to commit suicide by jumping into the canal. She, however, was rescued by the Rescue 1122 divers while search for the bodies of the kids is continued.
The police quoted neighbours of the couple as saying that the victim family often had disputes due to their extreme poor financial condition. Meanwhile, an eight-year-old boy of Garhi Gondal was crushed under the wheels of a tractor-trolley when he fell down from it near his village. The deceased Muhammad Ali along with his father Nazir Ahmad Mallah and other family members were on way to join a rally of Eid Miladun Nabi on a tractor-trolley when he fell down and crushed under its wheels.
