Rawalpindi - Over 150 protesters, including a local PML-N leader, were booked on account of blocking Airport Road during a protest against power outages, informed sources yesterday.

The case was registered under sections 342/186 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) with Police Station Airport. However, the accused have obtained the pre-arrest bails from a court of law, sources said.

More than 200 people staged a massive protest demonstration against electricity loadshedding on Thursday last and blocked Airport Road for more than two hours causing traffic blockade and delaying flights.

According to sources, airport police have lodged a case against 150 protesters including PML-N leader and Chairman UC # 77 Shah Faisal Colony Haji Waqar Dar on charges of persuading locals against the government and blocking Airport Road for traffic during agitation against loadshedding.

DSP Civil Line, Farhan Aslam, when contacted, confirmed the development saying more than 150 unknown protesters including UC Chairman Haji Waqar Dar were booked by police for blocking the road during a protest demonstration. He said that the accused had obtained pre-arrest bail from the court of area magistrate. He said that the protesters had kept road blocked for more than two hours.
