MIRPUR (AJK) - The Jamaat-e-Islami, Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Party and Jammu & Kashmir Liberation League have withdrawn their respective candidates in favour of the PML-N candidate M Saeed in Mirpur City constituency LA-III.

They separately declared their unflinching and unconditional support to the nominee of ‘N’ in the scheduled July 21 general elections in Azad Jammu Kashmir.

Addressing a joint news conference at the PML-N Mirpur Secretariat here on Saturday in presence of the ‘N’ candidate, JI leader Dr Riaz Ahmed, District Ameer Raja Aslam, Dr Qurban Mir, Zulqarnain Butt, Tanveer Ghazi and others declared to extend fullest support to the candidate of PML-N, in the  elections.

It may be added that Mirpur City constituency LA-III is being considered to be one of the hard-core constituencies of exceptional importance in the coming AJK elections following the close contest between the candidate of PML ‘N’ Ch. Muhammad Saeed and the sitting MLA and the candidate of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf in the same constituency Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, an ex prime minister of AJK.

Mirpur City constituency had been considered to be the parent constituency of Barrister Sultan as he had been winning the polls from the area several times in the past under the legacy of his late father and eminent politician from the area late Noor Hussain.

Independent observers believe a landslide victory of the ‘N’ candidate Muhammad Saeed in the polls because of the total lack of interest by the sitting lawmaker from the area in resolving the much-prolonged local issues Mirpur city is facing with since past many years  including complete lack of drinking water, supply of natural gas to major part of the city, dilapidated-condition city roads and streets, collapsed sewerage and unscheduled and forced long power outage in this city of global significance of over a million UK-based Kashmiri expatriates, holding the country’s largest reservoir Mangla dam. PML-N’ leaders including Dr Amin Chaudhry, Chairman Professional Board AJK, Ejaz Mir, Farooq Mir, Ch Muhammad Razaq, Ch Muhammad Naeem, Chief Organiser AJK Central Traders Organization  and others were also present on this occasion.

JI leader Dr Riaz Ahmed declared that it would be totally unconditional support to the candidate of ‘N’ in the larger interest of the due rights of the population of Mirpur city who had been deprived of their due rights by politicians belonging to the area in the past.

Speaking on this occasion, the PML-N candidate thanked the JI , Jammu Kashmir Peoples Party and Liberation League’s  leadership and their candidates for withdrawing from contesting the election in his favour. He said that the posing of trust in the PML-N in the election by above major political parties and their leadership was in fact the reposing of unflinching support and confidence by the citizens of Mirpur  in the dynamic leadership of the Party’s head and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Saeed reiterated PML-N’s resolve to wipe out corruption from the private and public sector institutions, overcome unemployment and poverty besides to enhance the opportunities of various economic oriented projects related to tourism, hydropower and industrial sectors in Azad Jammu Kashmir primarily aimed to ameliorate the life style of the common man.

Earlier, Central Secretary General of Jammu Kashmir Peoples Party and candidate of the party from Mirpur city LA-III Constituency Syed Nishat Kazmi announced to withdraw in support of the PML-N candidate.

Kazmi said that since his JKPP has already reached a formal electoral alliance with PML-N, his party would fully support and campaign for PML-N’s nominee Ch Muhammad Saeed in Mirpur city besides other candidates of ‘N’ in various other electoral constituencies in AJK in the scheduled polls. Jammu & Kashmir Liberation League has also announced to give unconditional support to the PML-N candidate Saeed by withdrawing its candidate Shahid Majeed Mallick.
