LAHORE - The National Highways & Motorway Police (NH&MP), Central Zone, has launched enforcement campaign in order to control overcharging and overloading in Public Service Vehicle on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr.
DIG Mirza Faran Baig made this announcement while making surprise checking of overcharging in buses on national highways near Thoker Niaz Baig, Lahore.
The central zone will return overly charged amount to passengers and imposed fine on violations on the spot, said a spokesman for NH&MP.
DIG Baig directed the patrolling officers to carry out strict enforcement against PSVs which are involved in overcharging and overloading. The passengers will be asked about the fare charged from them, in case of overcharging passengers will be refunded through transporters. Zero tolerance policy in this regard will be ensured and no PSVs will be allowed to enter on highways carrying extra passengers, he added.
The DIG directed the sector and beat commanders to personally supervise the patrolling officers and conduct meetings with transporters associations regarding overcharging and overloading. The coordination will also be made with secretary RTA for proper enforcement against overcharging in PSVs.
