Creation of new province PML-Q's top agenda

LAHORE - Creation of new province comprising southern parts of Punjab will be among the top agenda of PML-Qs upcoming workers conventions in South Punjab, while PML-Q leaders hailing from South Punjab are likely to start the spadework for the party conventions after Muharram, TheNation has learnt. Insiders in PML-Q privy to the plans regarding top party leadership for South Punjab told this scribe on Friday that senior leadership of the party, which earlier toured the area during partys reorganization campaign demanded creation of a new province consisting southern parts of the province solely on administrative basis. It would intensify their drive for creating new province during the upcoming partys conventions, he added. They also told that top leadership of PML-Q, which claimed South Punjab as their 'power base had directed the party leaders hailing from South Punjab to initiate groundwork for workers conventions with special focus on the campaign for creating a new province. Many of the PML-Q believe that slogan of 'new province would play a major role in deciding the fate of any political party in southern parts of the province in the next general elections. PML-Qs bigwigs from South Punjab including Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Muhammad Yar Hiraj, Amir Talal Gopang, Mohsin Leghari and Khusroo Bakhtiar opined that keeping in view the deprivations of the people of South Punjab, creation of new province solely on administrative basis was need of the hour. When contacted, Senator Kamil Ali Agha, central secretary information PML-Q, he confirmed that creation of province in South Punjab would be among the top agenda of the conventions, adding other current issues and problems facing the country would also be discussed at length. Claiming South Punjab as 'power base of PML-Q, Kamil said his party would not rest till the acceptance of demand of the people for a new province. About the upcoming party workers conventions, he told it would be held in Jehlum district on December 6, while the cities, which would fall in upcoming party workers conventions include Faisalabad, Sargodha, Khushab, Layyah and Sahiwal.
