LAHORE - Some unidentified culprits shot dead a 60-year-old man in Gawalmandi police precincts on Friday. The deceased was identified as Ghulam Fareed, a resident of Bukhari Chowk, Lohari Gate. Police said that the deceased was running a food shop in Baraf Khan Chowk located in Gawalmandi Area. On the day of the incident, he was sitting at his shop when few unidentified culprits approached him and opened fire on him. Resultantly, Ghulam Fareed received serious bullet wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died. Police shifted the body to the City morgue for autopsy and registered a murder case on the compliant of deceaseds son Muhammad Abbas, who claimed that his father had connection with one woman namely Rahat Bibi. Abbas, in his statement, claimed that his father used to deposit money with the woman Rahat Bibi and on Friday she got his father killed with the help of unknown men in order to embezzle the money. Police on his request also arrested Rahat Bibi and started investigating. Sources in investigation wing claimed three nephews of the deceased including Mani, Shahbaz and Awais alias Kodu could be involved in the incident but before seeking any tangible evidence nothing could be established. Further investigation was underway.
