LAHORE - Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has said establishment of Daanish Schools in the backward areas of the province will produce students who will change the destiny of their regions. He expressed these views while talking to teachers, students and citizens during his visit to under-construction Daanish School in Tehsil Chishtian district Bahawalnagar on Friday. He said setting up of Daanish Schools , equipped with latest facilities, for the poor students in less developed area was a proof that the common man had as much right over national resources as the elite. He said Daanish Schools would groom the talent of students of these areas and enable them to play an active role for national development and progress. The Chief Minister said that by evolving the project of Daanish Schools , Punjab Government has realized the dream of boy and girl students of far-flung and remote areas to have quality education. He said that academic standard of Daanish Schools would be even higher than the leading educational institutions of the country and poor students were being given admission only on merit. Shahbaz Sharif said that Daanish School project has been started from South Punjab and in the first phase Daanish schools were being established in three tehsils of Bahawalpur division. He said that these schools were almost complete and would be inaugurated in the first week of January. The Chief Minister expressed his satisfaction over the fact that the best and most competent teachers had been selected for Daanish Schools who were infused with the spirit of public service and were determined to change the destiny of these areas. He said that though magnificent buildings were constructed in the past in health, education and other sectors and funds were also misappropriated but little importance was given to the posting of teachers and doctors for benefiting from these buildings in the real sense. Addressing the teachers of Islamic studies, the Chief Minister emphasized upon them to educate their students on the lines, which could help eliminate petty differences and prejudices and transform Pakistan in accordance with the ideals of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal. He directed that information technology should be given due importance in Daanish Schools and this latest medium should be used for education from primary classes. He also visited various sections of the school and issued instructions for provision of smart board and internet facility in the computer lab immediately. The Chief Minister also met the teachers and students who had got admission in the school and their teachers. The teachers assured the Chief Minister that they would spare no effort for promotion of education and knowledge in the backward areas.
