LAHORE - Pakistan national women champion Ushna Suhail reached the doubles final in ITF Under-18 tennis event in Rwanda , East Africa. She is number 2 seed pairing with Nikita Dawda of Kenya. The Pak-Kenyan pair defeated the number 3 seeds, Yasmin Ebada of Egypt and Anna Goetz of Austria with a scoreline of 2-6, 7-5 and 10-8. The match was closely contested. In the first set, in spite of long rallies and net game, Ushnas opponents played a superior game and won the set 6-2. It took time for Ushna and Nakita to adjust to speed and rhythm of their opponents. In the second set, there was a visible change of tactics from the Pak-Kenyan pair. With aggressive baseline and net game, they took a 4-2 lead. However, their opponents levelled it to four all. It went to five all. Ushna and Nikita broke the serve of their opponents and finally won the second set 7-5. In the super tie break, Ushna and Nakita were leading 8-4 when their opponents took three consecutive points and made 8-7. Long rallies followed and Ushnas smash shot made it 9-7 lead followed by a brilliant drop shot of Ebada that took the score to 9-8. Finally, Ushnas brilliant first serve to the Austrian, went down the T which the latter tried to return but it dropped a little out of baseline, ending the super tie break by 10-8 in favour of Pak- Kenyan pair. They won 6-2, 7-5, 10-8. Final will be played against South African pair Lynn Kiro and Alison Van Zyl.
