ISLAMABAD - The Pakistan People’s Party on Sunday claimed millions would attend the party’s golden jubilee rally in Islamabad on December 5 (tomorrow).
PPP leaders Aajiz Dhamrah, Waqar Mehdi, Saeed Ghani and Rashid Rabbai, while addressing a joint news conference here said the party workers from across Pakistan would arrive in Islamabad for the rally.
Senator Dhamrah said the PPP workers would pay tribute to party founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on December 5.
He said the PPP introduced the nuclear programme making the country’s defence invincible. Mehdi said the PPP leadership had sacrificed their lives for the sake of democracy.
He said the PPP Sindh chapter would fully participate in the golden jubilee rally to be addressed by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Ghani said the political opponents would see how PPP activists celebrate their party’s founding day.
He said the PPP would win the 2018 general elections as Bilawal was addressing huge rallies across Pakistan.
Meanwhile, PPP leader Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar on Sunday said that party was on course to sweep the 2018 polls.
Speaking to journalists here, he said the response from the people had been overwhelming and the December 5 rally was bound to prove successful.
Khokhar said the PPP would win elections in Islamabad in the coming general elections.
The PPP leader said Bilawal’s popularity had given sleepless nights to the political rivals.
Meanwhile, opposition leader Khurshid Shah, Nayyar Bokhari, Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed and Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar visited the rally site on Sunday. They vowed to stage a historic rally in the capital city.
Khurshid Shah said Bhutto’s grandson would fulfil Bhutto’s unfulfilled mission as only he could lead the youth of Pakistan rightfully.
He said Bilawal reflected Bhutto’s charisma and political charm and he would rise for the welfare of the poor.
PPP chief Bilawal, in a separate message on Sunday, on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities lauded Sindh government’s three per cent increment in job quota for disabled candidates and had formed a committee to implement this quota in letter and spirit.
The quota for disabled candidates previously stood at two per cent, which has now become five per cent after the increment.
Bilawal stressed that the differently-able community should be given adequate opportunities and facilities to grow and utilise their full potential for the overall good of the society and a better life for themselves.
