SHANGLA - At least three policemen including an ASI were killed while another policeman sustained injuries when over two dozen armed militants attacked a police check post in district Shangla . Unknown militants equipped with sophisticated weapons stormed a police check post situated on Karora Chakisar Road late Saturday night. The militants opened indiscriminate fire on the check post giving no opportunity to policemen there to retaliate. Resultantly, Assistant Sub-Inspector Aurangzeb Khan, Constable Javid and a personnel of special police force Fazal Wakeel were killed on the spot while another of their colleagues Khan Bahadar sustained injuries. The ASI Aurangzeb Khan and Constable Javed belonged to Abbottabad while Constable Fazal Wakeel and injured constable Khan Bahadar hailed from Chakat Karora and Chakat Shangla respectively. The attackers while taking advantage of darkness managed to flee after the attack. The dead bodies of slain policemen were dispatched to their respective areas after offering their funeral prayers at Alpuri Police Lines. The funeral prayers were also attended by DPO Jehanzen. No group has claimed the responsibility of the attack; however, it is believed that the attackers were militants. Police registered a case against the attackers and launched an operation in the area. Security was put on high alert after the incident and extra police force was deployed on check posts. Since the restoration of peace in district Shangla , it was the first attack on law enforcers. MNA from district Shangla , Engineer Ameer Muqam, MPA Mohammad Reshad Khan, MPA Fazlullah Khan, PPPs local leader Afsarul Mulk and Maulana Rahat Hussain condemned the attack.
