RAHIM YAR KHAN - Armed bandits took away valuables worth Rs5 million from a house in Allama Iqbal Town near Church Road on Sunday. Three unidentified persons entered the house of Qazi Abdul Jameel, former Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) situated in street No-3 on the plea that they were electricians and came for the air-conditioners service. They tied up Usman Jameel, son of the former TMO, his servant and seven women in the house and started collecting valuables. The bandits also thrashed Nadia Jameel, sister of Usman Jameel and her daughter Aiman when they put up resistance. According to Nadia Jameel, the bandits took away $8000, Rs0.7 million Pakistani currency, gold ornaments worth Rs3.5 million, diamond jewellery and seven cell phones and fled away. The police as usual reached the spot late. Nadia Jameel told journalists that they had returned from the US and suspected that her former husband Zafar Ansari might involved in the crime. She lamented that despite the house was situated in proximity to the DPO office, the police failed to check the crime.
