At least five people including an activist of a political party were killed and several others injured in fresh spate of target killing related violent incidents in the city on Monday. Firing continued in different areas of the city triggering panic and fear among the dwellers. According to police, unknown armed men gunned down an activist of a political party identified as Rafiq in Gulbahar locality. In Katti Pahari area of Orangi Town, armed assailants shot dead two people Saifullah and Salman. Two persons were gunned down in Baldia Town by unknown gunmen. The bodies were shifted to hospital where identity of both was yet to be confirmed. Meantime, firing incidents spread panic in various areas of Qasba Colony and Bukhari Colony. Some unidentified miscreants opened indiscriminate fire in Shershah Kabari (scrap) Market resulting in chaos and closure of the market. The shopkeepers hurriedly pulled shutters of their shops down. It should be mentioned here that police posts established at the market were deserted on the occasion with no single police personnel seen around. Traders and shoppers were seen panicked. They said it was due to the negligence of police that miscreants had opportunity to enter the market and create panic here. Repeated incidents of target killings and lawlessness in the city have paralysed the routine life and business activities.
