PESHAWAR - An elementary textbook for teaching Hindko language to children has been published and handed over to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Textbook Board. A noted Hindko writer, poet, linguist and research scholar Prof Dr Elahi Bakhsh Awan has prepared the book. He hails from Peshawar and has been living in England for the last 20 years. He did his doctorate in Linguistics from the School of African and Oriental Studies, University of London, carrying out extensive research on the Hindko Phonology. He has 35 books and publications to his credit. He has explained various aspects of the language for the elementary learners in the 40-page primer, published by Gandhara Hindko Board, a literary, cultural and social welfare organisation. The board has published 36 Hindko books, including two comprehensive Hindko dictionaries and versified translation of the Holy Quran, so far.
