KARACHI - Awami Colony police claimed to have gunned down two street criminals in an alleged encounter in Korangi locality.

Police said that the police during routine patrolling trying to intercept the pillion riders near Korangi Graveyard but gunmen resorted firing to avoid arrest which resulting police running after the outlaws and during exchange of fire both suspects were sustained bullets wounds.  Police shifted the bandits to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) where doctors pronounced their death. Police recovered weapons and a motorbike from the possession of bandits killed while bodies of the bandits were shifted to morgue for identification after autopsy.

SUSPECTS ARRESTED

The law enforcement agencies claimed to have arrested a dozen suspects including a worker of a political party during ongoing targeted raids in parts of a metropolis.

A worker of a political party was arrested during a targeted raid conducted on a tip-off at Shah Faisal Colony area. Rangers spokesperson said that the accused arrested was identified as Syed Ziaullah who was affiliated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London, adding that the suspect arrested has been involved in various cases of target killings and extortion.

Separately, the force also claimed to have arrested at least 10 more suspects during various raids in parts of the city. According to Rangers spokesperson, the raids were conducted in parts of a city including Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Korangi Industrial Area, Shah Faisal Colony and Saudabad area. The suspects arrested were identified as Saad Khaliq, Roshan Ali alias Sheharyar, Hamza Ali, Azhar Ali alias Munna, Ali alias Munna, Shahzad, Kifayat alias Kaka, Iqbal, Naveed and Naeem.

Rangers spokesperson said that the suspects arrested were involved in various cases of street crimes, robberies and vehicles snatching. The spokesperson also claimed to have recovered arms and ammunitions from their possession. The accused persons were later handed over to the police for legal formalities.

Meanwhile, Karachi police claimed to have arrested over 21 suspects involved in various sort of criminal activities. The accused persons were arrested from different areas of the city while police recovered weapons and narcotics. Police said that the accused persons arrested were including street criminals , bandits, absconders and drug paddlers.
