Saad Altaf sets Pakistan record with 16 for 141

ISLAMABAD - Saad Altaf, the 33-year old Rawalpindi fast bowler, has broken the record for the best bowling figures in first-class cricket in Pakistan.

Rawalpindi need further 82 runs to win with all 10 wickets.  Fata were bundled out for 184 in their second innings with Sohail Akhtar scoring 51. Saad Altaf took another 8 wickets in the second innings conceding 79 runs. Earlier, Rawalpindi resumed their first innings at overnight score of 149 for the loss of 4 wickets and were all out for 203, thus took 77-run first innings lead.

Saad took eight wickets in each innings against Federally Administered Tribal Areas in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy to finish with 16 for 141, bettering Sohail Khan's 16 for 189 against Water and Power Development Authority in December 2007.

Saad, playing his 98th first-class match, made his debut in the 2001-02 season. He has now upped his wickets tally to 393, which includes 27 five-fors in an innings and five ten-fors in a match. Facing him, however, was not the toughest proposition for batsmen in this round of the QeA.

At Abbottabad Stadium, SNGPL scored 179-5 with Asad Shafiq slamming 53 and Ali Waqas 47. Khalid Usman claimed 3 for 61. Earlier, Wapda resumed their first innings at overnight score of 283 for the loss of 8 wickets and were all out for 305.

At Diamond Ground, UBL gathered made 120 for the loss of 2 wickets in their second innings against HBL. Umar Akmal was unbeaten at 69. Earlier, HBL resumed their first innings at overnight score of 29 for the loss of 2 wickets and were bundled out for 125, thus conceded 53 runs first innings lead. Ehsan Adil bagged 4 for 29, Sohail Khan 3 for 43 and Sadaf Mehdi 2 for 41.
