LAHORE - Terra Energy toppled Waste Buster by 9-5 to join Newage in the Seasons Canola Polo Cup 2017 main final here at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground on Friday.
Ghulam Mustafa Monnoo and Mumtaz Abbas Niazi played heroic roles in Terra Energy’s victory while Frasat Ali Chatha contributed one. From the losing side, Ahmed Nawaz Tiwana and Ahmed Zubair Butt scored two goals each while Bahawal Mohsin Maan contributed one.
Terra Energy started the crucial match in great style and thwarted two tremendous goals to take 2-0 lead. Terra Energy continued their good show in the second chukker as well and fired three goals to make it 5-0 but Waste Buster bounced back well by scoring two goals to reduce the deficit to 5-2.
The third chukker was evenly poised as both the sides scored two goals each to make it 7-4. In the fourth and last chukker, Waste Buster fired a fabulous field goal to further reduce the deficit to 7-5 but Terra Energy bounced back exceptionally by slamming two goals through Mumtaz Abbas Niazi to finish the match having 9-5 lead.
Diamond Paints also played superbly to outclass Pebble Breakers 9-5½ to qualify for the subsidiary final of the event. Mir Huzaifa was hero of the day as he converted seven out of nine goals to guide his team to impressive victory while the remaining two goals came from Abdullah Dawood. From the losing side, Mian Iftikhar Hussain was top scorer with three goals while Faisal Khan and Mohsin Atta Khan Khosa hit one goal apiece.
