14 gamblers held

Kandhkot - Kashmore police on Monday claimed to have caught 14 gamblers in different raids.

According to Kashmore Police Spokesmen, Nadar Channa, a police party, led by A-Section SHO, raided a gambling den near New Channa locality and arrested five gamblers, namely Shafi Mohammad Mirani, Aijaz Ahmed, Nazar Mohammad, Sharif and Papu, while the stake money of Rs6, 000 was also recovered from them. Later, a case was registered against them.

Giving further details, Channa said that CIA Kashmore In-charge Murtaza Mirani and his team nabbed five gamblers, namely Shahnawaz, Ali Nawaz, Waseem, Mujahid and Gadda Hussain in the limits of C- Section near WAPDA’s office.

While in another raid, CIA police, on a tip-off, arrested four gamblers, Mohsin Golo, Zawar Sheikh, Ali Anwar and Hairdin red-handed.

Channa said police had also seized Rs7, 400 stake money along with six cellphones from the gambling den.

When this scribe contacted Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bashir Ahmed Brohi, he said that around 100 gamblers and peddlers had been taken into custody from across the district in just one week.

 “It is the responsibility of police to eliminate social evils from the society,” he added.
