Recovery of missing reporter sought

RAWALPINDI - Crime and Court Reporters Association (CCRA) has expressed its grave concern over the missing of a reporter of private TV channel and demanded its earlier release. The association also demanded Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take suo moto notice in this regard. The members of CCRA, while addressing an emergency meeting held at Rawalpindi Islamabad Press Club on Thursday, said that the untoward incidents with journalists in the city have risen which also created a wave of panic among journalist community of the twin cities. They said that after the alleged kidnapping of private TV channel reporter Abdul Qadeer Najam the journalists community felling insecurity while law enforcers had failed to provide safety to the media men. Some time ago, Raja Asad Hameed, reporter of daily TheNation and Dr Amir Waqil also a journalist were mercilessly killed by unknown assassins while police did nothing and killers were still at large, they lamented. It is worth mention here that Abdul Qadeer Najam was kidnapped at a time when he was returning to his office after filming the providers of meat of dead animals. The meeting was chaired by CCRA Sultan Shah while attended by General Secretary Iqbal Malik and other office bearers and members.
