QUETTA -  Rawalpindi-bound Jaffar Express narrowly escaped a disaster on Friday when Improvised Explosive Device hit a track causing suspension of railway traffic for several hours.

According to details, unidentified miscreants planted an IED at railway track in Abe-Gum area of Bolan to target Rawalpindi-bound Jaffar Express which hardly left Quetta.

The planted IED exploded damaging the track before Jaffar Express arrived.

Following the IED explosion, the train was stopped in Bolan while all other trains including Nawab Akbar Bugti Express were stopped on Machh-Kolpur; while other passenger-trains arriving Quetta from Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi were stopped at Sibi Railway Station for security reasons.

Railways officials repaired the railway track after several hours. The security forces beefed up security of trains and railway stations after the incident.

The district administration has launched investigation.

MAN KILLED IN IED EXPLOSION

Online adds: A man was killed when his motorcycle hit an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the Lahri area of Quetta.

The motorcyclist was on his way to home when his motorcycle hit an Improvised Explosive Device and he died on the spot. The IED was planted on roadside by unidentified miscreants.

After the incident the Levies officials reached the spot and shifted the body to hospital for medico-legal formalities and started investigation.
