Islamabad - Ambassador of Qatar to Pakistan Saqr bin Mubarak Al-Mansouri yesterday called on Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr Mukhtar Ahmed and stressed on educational collaboration between the two countries.

The chairman HEC on this occasion shed light on the need of promoting educational cooperation between the higher education institutions of Pakistan and Qatar through bilateral cooperation, university-to-university contact and faculty exchange programmes. “HEC encourages foreign students to study in Pakistani universities,” he said.

The ambassador observed that Pakistan and Qatar enjoy brotherly relations which have strengthened over the years.

 “Pakistan has made remarkable development in the higher education sector,” he said.

The ambassador also stated that people of Qatar hail the friendly and cooperative approach of Pakistan. 

The chairman also briefed the ambassador on the HEC initiatives for promotion of higher education in the country with special focus on facilitation of universities, faculty and students. He revealed that the government of Pakistan and HEC are making concerted efforts to facilitate the youth by ensuring their equitable access to quality education, and promoting research that has impact on society and encouraging entrepreneurship.
