Patrolling cops accused of corruption

KASUR-The patrolling police officials, deployed on main city roads, were accused of sweeping citizens' pockets on one pretext or the other.
During a survey conducted by this correspondent, residents of different localities complained about the patrolling cops' apathy to perform their duty honestly. They criticised the patrolling personnel for their alleged involvement in taking bribes from citizens. "Instead of protecting lives and property of the public, the patrolling cops remain busy extorting money from citizens," they alleged. The patrolling police corruption adds to citizens' woes who are already adversely affected by frequent traffic mess in the district, they said. "The officials' indifference to their duty has given rise to crimes in the district," they claimed. They demanded Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif to look into the matter and take action against the officials involved in the malpractice.
FIVE INJURED IN
SMOG-TRIGGERED ACCIDENT
Five persons were injured in a van-rickshaw collision occurred due to poor visibility amidst dense smog here the other day.
According to police, a Toyota van was on the way to Pattoki from Adhan. Its driver could not guess the distance and the van hit a rickshaw form the rear. Resultantly, rickshaw driver and five passengers in van were injured.
