Distinction: Pakistani elected executive member of APSA

The director of a leading Pakistani seed company has brought laurels to the country with his election as Executive Council member of the world’s biggest association of seed sector Asia Pacific Seed Association (APSA).
Tahir Saleemi, director Haji sons, a leading seed company of the country was elected as executive council members of the APSA.
It is to be noted that APSA established in Thailand in 1994, is the world’s biggest association of seed sector with 1,500 members from 46 countries. It aims at facilitating member countries on policy issue, linkage with AO, ISF, ISTa, UpOV, and working for improvement of production, seed quality and disease resistance and breeding itself. It is a very useful platform for world seed industry to address food security issues.
Earlier, in its 20th General Assembly session held in Macao, the APSA members voted for one vacant position of 13 member Executive Committee and unanimously elected Tahir Saleemi, director Haji sons.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Saleemi introduced Pakistan seed industry and assured of active role of Pakistan in the APSA. Meanwhile, the seed industry representatives, industrialists and govt officers have greeted Mr Saleemi on his election as EC member of the APSA
