Steps afoot to beautify cantonment areas: RCB

Rawalpindi - Fahim Zafar Khan, chief executive officer (CEO) of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB), has said that the board is making all-out efforts to facilitate the masses and the business community.
He said that steps were also being taken to make the cantonment beautiful and this could not be achieved without the help of business community. He said that all issues of traders regarding property tax and advertisement boards would be resolved with the mutual consent but in accordance with the law of the land.
More than hundred projects of water supply have been completed; 6,000 streetlights have been installed, new filtration plants are being established and reconstruction and patchwork of streets and roads are in progress, he said, adding RCB was striving hard to make area beautiful and provide best environment to the residents of the area.
He was exchanging these views with the President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Syed Asad Mashadi during his visit to the Chamber of Friday. Senior Vice President Mian Humayun Parvez, Vice President Saboor Malik, Member National Assemble Malik Ibrar, former president RCCI Manzar Khurshid Sheikh, Chairman RCCI standing committee on Cantonment Affairs & President Traders’ association Rawalpindi Cantt Sheikh Hafeez, members’ executive committee and other members were also present on the occasion.
Fahim Zafar said that after zero tolerance policy against departmental corruption, 40 percent reduction was observed in board expenditures. While lauding the role of RCCI he said that Rawalpindi chamber always cooperates with the board and board always welcome the suggestion came from the Chamber. He said that efforts were underway to fully functional Cantonment Hospital and new furniture was being provided to all schools of the area.
