MUZAFFARGARH - At least three people doused acid on a woman as a result of a dispute on Friday.
Azhara Bibi got into an argument with Saeed, an influential feudal lord, which soon turned into a heated debate. Saeed called in three of his men, doused acid on her and escaped.
Rescue team shifted the victim to Nishtar Hospital where doctors have confirmed that 70 percent of her body has been burned, informing that her condition was critical.
The police have registered a case against three persons but no arrest has yet taken place.
Azhara Bibi, mother of four, a resident of Ali Wala area of Muzaffargarh, got married 10 years ago. Her husband worked as a labourer in Lahore.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident and sought a report from Muzaffargarh DCO. The chief minister directed that the accused should be arrested immediately and action be taken as per law. He said that best treatment facilities should be provided to the victim.
