ISLAMABAD - Pakistan National Ski team departed for India to take part in the first South Asian Winter Games to be held in Auli and Dehradun from January 14 to 16. The contingent consists of male and female skiers and thefirst Pakistan Winter Olympian Muhammad Abbas from PAF. The first South Asian Winter Games, which are expected to be attended by all the SAARC nations, comprise variety of snow games including ski sports. The national ski team would compete in Slalom, Giant Slalom, Cross-country and Biathlon events of the Winter Games. Prior to appearance in the first South Asian Winter Games, the team is also scheduled to participate in the Open Ski Championship from January 7 to 9. This would enable the athletes to gain much needed practice for the major events of first South Asian Winter Games.
