LAHORE Holding Salmaan Taseer responsible for his own murder, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Syed Munawar Hasan has said the incident was the result of obstructing the process of the Blasphemy Law. In a statement issued here on Wednesday, he said Salmaan Taseer , despite occupying a high government office, openly violated the Law and continued to support a woman convicted of blasphemy. Salmaan Taseer met the culprit in jail and later at a press conference, announced that he would get her clemency from the President. This announcement was made at a time when the lower court judgment was subject to appeal before the High Court and the Supreme Court, Syed Munawar Hasan said. He suggested that Taseer persistently ignored the sentiments of 170 million Pakistanis by terming the Blasphemy Law as a Black law and ridiculing the ulema. Tahafuz-e-Namoos-e-Risilat Mahaz continued demanding of the government to take notice of governors statements but to no avail, he said. TNRM had also called for his removal from Governors House but the rulers did not pay any heed. He said the Muslims love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is natural and unlimited and any Muslim worth the name can never tolerate blasphemy as proved by this incident.
