Banks to receive Haj applications till 11th

ISLAMABAD (APP) - The designated branches of six banks all over the country will continue to receive Haj applications under government Haj scheme till July 11. The intending pilgrims can deposit their applications along with Haj dues in any designated branch of ABL, HBL, UBL, NBP, MCB and ZTBL (Zari Taraqiati Bank Ltd) till the last date which is not likely to be extended, official sources in the Ministry of Religious Affairs told this agency here on Sunday. All the banks have set up special counters and displayed banners at their designated for assistance and guidance of intending pilgrims. The intending pilgrims have been advised to bring their original computerized Identity Card to the banks for filling their Hajj application forms. The applicant who has performed Haj during last five years will not be allowed for repeat Haj. However, there will be exemption for Mehram of a lady who did not perform Hajj earlier and these proceeding for Haj-e-Badal or as group leader. Machine Readable International Passport having validity of at least one year is must for Hajj journey. About 80,000 pilgrims will perform Haj under the governments scheme. However, if the applications exceeded this number, the selection will be made through ballot. The applicants who have been unsuccessful in the ballot during last two years i.e. Haj December - 2007 and Haj Dec. 2009 consecutively under government scheme shall be declared successful without ballot. Hajj dues for the pilgrims from Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Sukkur, Sialkot, Rahimyar Khan will be Rs.200,000 per pilgrim whereas the pilgrim traveling from Karachi and Quetta will deposit Rs.185,000 per pilgrim. Zaidi asked the intending pilgrims to read the instructions very carefully before filling-up application forms to avoid any mistake which will cause rejection of Haj application. He informed that all the bank will continue to receive applications till July 11, 2009.
