LAHORE - Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the government of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has led the country to development and prosperity.
Talking to a delegation of PML-N after his return from London on Sunday, the chief minister said that public service and prosperity of the country had always been priorities of the PML-N. During his weeklong stay in London, the chief minister visited Kalsoom Nawaz and also met former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. Overseas Pakistanis and delegations of PML-N in London called upon the chief minister.
Shehbaz said the PML-N had always been through positive, democratic and interest-based politics. The current financial growth has been acknowledged by international organisations and continuation of policies will make Pakistan a huge economic power in the region soon, he said. The chief minister said that they would approach people at the base of their performance and deliverance in the 2018 elections and would succeed. He expressed the hope that the politics of hard work, honesty, loyalty and public service would win in the 2018 elections. He said every time the PML-N comes into power, a new era of development and prosperity begins. “Our party has served people selflessly in its tenure and it will continue to do it,” he said. He said the PML-N was still the most popular party in the public. He said that people had rejected the negative politics of selfish elements and the public was now astute enough to figure out vested interests of those involved in the politics of lies and impeachment. He said the public would take the elements halting the journey of progress for their vested interests to their logical end in the upcoming elections. He said that his party leaders had made commitments about development and prosperity of people, so politics of lies and baseless allegations could not stop it from serving the humanity. He said the PML-N had always preferred national interests to personal interest and it would continue to do this.
The chief minister asserted that sincere efforts of the government of the PML-N had set the country on the road to progress and it was an honour for his party. He said, “We are moving forward for the bright and marvelous future of the country and our government has propelled billions of rupees revolutionary programmes to raise the living standard of the public. Facilities have been provided to the public by completing development projects.” He said that his party had set records of development projects despite obstacles and it would continue to serve people with even more passion and commitment in future. Separately, Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered foolproof security for the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and martyrs of Karbala as well as Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh.
He said that protection of property and life of people was the prime objective; therefore, all necessary measures should be taken for maintaining peace.
Issuing instructions to the provincial cabinet committee on peace and law and order, the chief minister said there couldn't be any obligation more critical than assurance of protection to lives and properties of people. So law enforcement agencies should remain alert and use all their energies and capabilities to ensure peace, he said.
He said there shouldn’t be left any gap in the security arrangements. He said, “We cannot afford any negligence in the prevailing situation; therefore, additional force should be deployed at mosques, imambargahs and other important places. Also, he said, law enforcement agencies should be advised to maintain close proximity and coordination among themselves. He directed the officials to ensure implementation of the final security plan at any cost. He said that elected representatives, administrative officials and police officers should play their role in maintenance of peace.
