Musharraf allowed to contest poll from NA-32 Chitral, barred from NA-250

Nomination papers of former President General (Retired) Pervez Musharraf have been accepted by the Election Commission for NA-32, Chitral.
However, Pervez Musharraf was barred from contesting general elections in another constituency, NA-250, after the Election Commission of Pakistan rejected his nomination papers over objections.
Akhtiyar Ali Channa Advocate and rival candidate from NA-250 Naimat Ullah Khan Advocate, who is former mayor of Karachi, had raised objections against Musharraf’s candidature in judges sacking case.
In their objection, they stated that Musharraf was ineligible to contest elections since he facing several cases.
After hearing arguments, Returning Officer Syed Ikramur Rehman rejected nomination papers filed by the former military ruler and chief of All Pakistan Muslim League‚ Pervez Musharraf from the National Assembly constituency NA-250 of Karachi.
His papers have also been rejected in NA-139, Kasur.
The former army chief returned last month after nearly four years of self-imposed exile to contest a May 11 general election despite the possibility of arrest on various charges and death threats from the Pakistani Taliban.
