Agha Steel receives highest corporate rating in industry
KARACHI (PR): JCR-VIS Credit Rating Company Limited (JCR-VIS) has assigned initial entity ratings of ‘A/A-1’ (Single A/A-One) to Agha Steel Industries (ASI). Outlook on the assigned ratings is ‘Stable’.
Agha Steel Industries Limited (ASI) is amongst the top-tier players in the long steel sector with installed capacity of billets and reinforcement bars (rebars) at 240,000MT and 150,000MT, respectively. Competitive advantage stems from the company being the only manufacturer in the country using Electric Arc Furnace for manufacturing of billets.
ASI’s capacity utilization level of bars stood at 91% (FY16: 85%) during FY17. In order to cater to rising demand, ASI is in the process of expanding its rebar capacity by 5 times. The expansion will be funded through a mix of debt and equity. The equity portion will be funded through a planned Initial Public Offering in 1QCY18.

Haier’s store at Packages Mall pulls in crowds
LAHORE (PR): Haier’s newly opened flagship store at Packages Mall Lahore is proving to be a real crowd puller, with visitors and customers alike.

Opening of HPTC in Nankana Sahib
LAHORE (PR): Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Center has achieved another milestone with the launch of Hepatitis Prevention & Treatment Clinic (HPTC) in DHQ Hospital, Nankana Sahib. Several representatives from government, civil society, academia, and media attended the launch ceremony. In line with the vision of making ‘hepatitis free Pakistan,’ this clinic will offer free screening, vaccination and treatment to the hepatitis patients.

Telenor, PLDDB launch ‘Khushaal Aangan’
LAHORE (PR): Aimed at empowering Pakistan’s female farmers and extending them the benefits of its flagship mobile agriculture service ‘Khushaal Zamindar’, Telenor Pakistan, in partnership with Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Board (PLDDB), has launched a dedicated free of cost IVR service for female farmers in Punjab called ‘Khushaal Aangan’. Female farmers will simply need to dial 727251 to subscribe to the service and get information regarding livestock rearing, family health, nutrition, hygiene and sanitation.
Currently more than 4 million farmers in Punjab are using Telenor Pakistan’s agriculture service ‘Khushaal Zamindar’ and over 10% of them are females. Keeping in view the large number of female workforce in today’s rural society and their immense contribution towards agriculture, it’s imperative to have a service which caters specifically to their needs.
Meizu set to enter Pak smartphone market

14th annual convocation of SZABIST on 9th
KARACHI (PR): The 14th annual convocation of the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) Karachi will be held on 9th December at the PAF Convention Centre.
This time 1027 students shall be getting their degrees in different disciplines. This is the highest number of degree recipients from Karachi campus in 22 years of SZABIST’s history. Of 1027 degrees being conferred, 465 are Undergraduate Degrees, 558 are Masters Degrees and 4are PhD Degrees. Twelve Academic Gold Medals and eleven Silver Medals shall also be awarded. One hundred and eight students’ names have been placed on the “Chancellors Honor List” for securing CGPA equal to or greater than 3.50.
The ceremony is expected to be attended by around 3500 people comprising of SZABIST Board of Governors, Board of Trustees, management, faculty, staff, graduates, parents, educationists, guests, media and supportive/committed partners.
