The opposition parties on the first day of the NA session, starting today, will jointly raise the issues related to the protest sit-in, which was ended after 22 days. PPP has also submitted an adjournment motion in the National Assembly Secretariat requesting suspension rest of the agenda to discuss the particular matter and the ‘agreement’ signed between the religious group and the government representatives.
The rest of opposition parties - PTI, MQM and Jamaat-e-Islami - may also raise questions related to the sit-in staged by Tehreek-e-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah. They may also grill the government over flopped strategy to break the sit-in of TLYR protestors. As, the crackdown against the protestors created unrest in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi as six persons lost their lives and around 200 sustained injuries. During the clash between protestors and security forces, the twin cities were virtually paralysed. Protests also erupted in other parts of the country and even some protestors also attacked the residences of lawmakers, including Zahid Hamid, Chaudhary Nisar, Rana Sana Ullah and others.
