MIRPUR [AJK]-Speakers addressing a seminar here on Wednesday lauded the vibrant role of youth in the ongoing freedom movement.
They were addressing a seminar on the role of youth in ongoing freedom struggle in Indian occupied Kashmir. It was organised by student alliances and All Parties’ Hurriyat Conference here Wednesday.
Kashmir Institute of International Relations Director and human rights activist Altaf Hussain Wani, Mirpur University of Science and Technology [MUST] Vice Chancellor Dr Habibur Rehman, APHC AJK Chapter`s head Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Abdul Hamid Lone, Farooq Rehmani, Sayed Faiz Naqshbandi, Ishtiaq Hamid, Sehrish Qamar, Sardar Mazher, Ijaz Raza and young leaders addressed the seminar. They applauded the role of valiant youth in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir by always having been on the forefront of the struggle for freedom of the motherland from the Indian subjugation.
“India repression and military oppression continue in Indian occupied Kashmir and India is trying to push youth to the wall,” the speakers said. They added despite all stringent and inhuman acts through her occupational forces India has totally failed to arrest the momentum of the freedom struggle .
Addressing the seminar, Wani said, “Youth despite in constant distress and fear are using all the means of modern warfare to defeat Indian designs, Kashmir youth used social media, literature, art and culture to promote resistance.”
He said that youth in Indian occupied need an equal and matching response from the youth of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan. He said Azad Jammu and Kahmir youth will continue to support the people of Indian occupied Kashmir in their struggle for freedom. There is enmorus potential in Azad Kashmir and youth are fully charged to work for change, he urged youth to remain informed, involved and organized and make efforts to involve other too in promoting the resistance and expose suffering of people of Indian occupied Kashmir. “You can do so by monitoring , documenting and disseminating the information to young Kashmiri Diaspora and they can involve the Cecil society of their country of living,” he said.
Wani urged Azad Kashmir government to arrange youth exchange programmes and incentives to young scholars and students to promote Kashmir cause by their writings poetry and art. He also encouraged the youth to use International human rights mechanism to expose human rights violations.
15-DAY REFRESHER COURSE FOR POLICE: A 15 days long refresher course commenced at the State capital to enhance the capacity and professional skills of the investigation officers of AJK police.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Shoaib Dastagir inaugurated the ceremony. About the course, Deputy Inspector General Police Irfan Kashfi said that it was especially designed for capacity building of the investigative staff so they could act promptly and transparently in their profession.
He said the course would go long way to provide justice for the people. IGP Shoaib Dastagir said that fair investigation was key to justice. By strengthening the criminal justice system, writ of the state be established beside the provision of justice, he said.
“For the provision of justice and development in the state, a powerful criminal justice system was a vital,” he said. He said due to poor investigative system, criminals could easily escape from the law. “We are keeping ourselves in the limits of resources. We are introducing reforms in the Police Department,” he said.
