USAID Punjab director visits GCU

LAHORE - United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Director for Punjab Ms Lee Swanson on Monday visited Government College University Lahore to identify areas of cooperation for youth development.

Ms. Lee Swanson held a detailed meeting with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Hassan Amir Shah. The University’s faculty deans, Prof Dr. Islam Ullah Khan, Prof Dr. Iqbal Shahid, and Prof Dr. Raiz Ahmed were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Hassan Shah sought USAID cooperation in developing linkages with American universities and support for developing facilities for the university’s physically-challenged students.

Ms. Lee Swanson said that USAID was committed to supporting youth development in Pakistan in every possible way.

She also showed interest for cooperation with GCU in the fields of drama, music and other performing arts as well as in biological sciences, environmental studies, media studies, business and management, and English language learning.  GCU Academic Planning and External Links (APEL) Director, Ms. Fouzia Shahin briefed the USAID official about the different academic programmes, research linkages and achievements of the university.
