ISLAMABAD/ RAWALPINDI - As Eid-ul-Fitr draws near, shopping is gaining momentum with the great hustle and bustle in the twin cities’ main bazaars and markets.
Heavy rush of people is seen at bazaars and markets ahead of Eid . People are seen buying various items ranging from clothes to footwear, while shopkeepers have illuminated their shops with multi-coloured lights and decorations to attract customers.
Young girls, women and youth alike are seen thronging shopping centres where rush of shoppers is noticeable. Colourful Eid stalls established at various points in the twin cities are offering different kinds of henna besides, cosmetics, earrings, gleaming bangles, embroidered clothes, jewellery, handbags, shoes and colourful dresses, while the shoppers are also taking keen interest in such illuminated shopping malls.
The markets including Karachi Company, Abpara, Commercial, Moti Bazar, Raja Bazar and Sadar Bazaar have been illuminated with lights.
Meanwhile, Eid shopping is gaining momentum day by day as great rush of people are being witnessed in all markets and bazaars of Rawalpindi.
Nowadays, the children and women are more enthusiastic in choosing new and unique design clothes to wear on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The customers start thronging shopping centres from evening. The government employees have also jumped into the arena as actions, particularly in front of shopping centres including Tench Bhatta, Peoples Colony, Saddar Bazaar, Moti Bazaar, Raja Bazaar, Lalkurti, Rehmanabad and Sadiqabad Markets, Commercial market and other areas has become a routine.
The people belonging to all age groups including women and children are seen busy in Eid shopping. The Eid shopping will continue till the ‘Chand Raat’.
Nowadays, the main focus of the citizens is towards the purchase of the clothes, footwears and many other items for the festival. As the Eid festival is coming nearer, a large number of female and children thronging busy markets and commercial plazas of the city to purchase required items for Eid-ul-Fitr. 
The buyers, mostly middle class, are found moving from shop to shop asking prices of goods.
Meanwhile, a larger number of makeshift shops have sprung up on the pavements of the city on the Eid occasion.
Prices of different varieties of clothes have registered a sharp rise although the shops are almost full of a variety of garments. Everyone try to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religious festivals celebrated after Ramazan with zeal and fervor and maximum arrangements are made in this regard.
With the Eid festival coming nearer, eager shoppers are roaming various city markets and purchasing best items and gifts either for themselves or for their family members, friends, and relatives. For the traders, it is the best time to make money. They are very optimist as the shoppers’ presence is increasing day by day and reaches on its peak on Chand Raat.
Meanwhile, police claimed to have made foolproof security arrangements for the protection of the people at various shopping centres, markets and public places. To ensure security of female, lady police have also been deployed in various busy shopping malls at Saddar Bazaar, Raja Bazaar, Moti Bazaar and other busy markets of the city.
According to police security plan, law enforcers have been deployed in plain clothes at various sensitive areas and close circuit cameras are working in different busy bazaars, parks and other public places.
City traffic police has also finalised a traffic plan to avoid traffic mess and other problems on roads due to great rush of people in markets and bazaars.
