LAHORE Four dacoits clad in police uniform gunned down a security guard and shot injured two policemen and fled away after collecting Rs 0.6 million in cash during a broad daylight dacoity at Bhati Chowk in Raiwind City police area on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Awal Khan of Attock. An eyewitness Zameer Khan told the reporters that four policemen later revealed as dacoits held hostage a carry van (LEC-2758) at gunpoint and captured four persons, employees of Soraj Cotton Mills. The employees namely Awal Khan, security guard, Aslam, gunman, Arshad, cashier, and a driver while riding the aforesaid van were on their way around 10:30 am on Wednesday. They stopped the van at a traffic signal at Main Bazaar Bhati Chowk, when the dacoits while riding three motorbikes held them hostage and demanded cash, said the eyewitness, adding it seemed someone from inside the van resisted on which they opened straight fire, leaving two persons injured. Fareed Ahmed, manager of the Cotton Mills, told the reporters that the dacoits fled the scene after snatching Rs 0.6 million from his employees. In the meantime, eyewitnesses made a call to Emergency Police 15 and informed about the incident. However, shortly after the incident, two cops namely Adeel and Aamir chased the dacoits on Manga Road near Haveli Chajowali. The dacoits clad in police uniform opened indiscriminate fire on policemen resultantly both of the security personnel sustained critical injuries, said SHO Raiwind City, adding the police seized one motorbike (LEW-5281), four magazines, and bullets from the crime scene. The dacoits, however, fled the scene while riding two motorbikes.
