LAHORE - The Punjab government has issued Rs 120 million to the health welfare committees of 35 hospitals of the province for the treatment of needy people, said Punjab Zakat and Ushr Secretary Imran Nasir Khan on Wednesday. This amount has been issued from the Zakat Fund as first six monthly installments for the year 2011-12, he added. While presiding over a meeting at his office, Khan said that in the past, the said amount was issued by the federal government but after 18th Amendment now it has becomes the responsibility of the provincial government. He further said that about Rs 60 million have been issued to the health welfare committees of 15 hospitals of Lahore. Likewise, about Rs 39 million have been issued to 11 hospitals of Rawalpindi, Rs 10 million issued to three hospitals of Multan, Rs 5 million issued to two hospitals of Faisalabad, Rs 4.5 million issued to two hospitals of Bahawalpur, Rs 1.2 million issued to one hospital of Rahim Yar Khan and Rs 2.5 million have been issued to one hospital of Narowal district.
