Work on Pakistan Kidney Liver institute and Research Centre on Bedian Road in Lahore is continuing round the clock and if all goes well as planned its first phase will be operational by December 2017 and accordingly liver and kidney patients will be able to avail indoor medical treatment facilities. The progress on the mega project is constantly being reviewed by Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif who paid yet another visit only the other day and reviewed the progress of work.
He quite emphatically reiterated that the project, the first of its kind in the public sector in Pakistan, will provide modern treatment to the liver and kidney patients not only of the province or Pakistan but also of the region and it is being established at a cost of Rs 19 billion.
He also made yet another appreciable announcement that one lakh hepatitis patients will be receiving free medicines by June 2018 and presently 15000 hepatitis patients are already being provided free medicines at their doorsteps under the Hepatitis Control Program of the provincial government and quite rightly claimed that the provincial government is a pioneer in delivering free medicines to tuberculosis and hepatitis patients.
Pakistan Kidney and liver Institute and Research Center is yet another initiative of the chief minister who is all but determined and committed to provide most modern healthcare facilities to the people without any discrimination whatsoever in the rural and urban areas and on its completion in due course of time is going to be a great game changer project in the medical field of Pakistan.
