Seminar on accident prevention held

Islamabad - National Highways and Motorway Police and Society of Air Safety Investigators Pakistan organised international accident investigation prevention training seminar to create awareness on accidents among the masses.

IG NH&MP Dr Syed Kaleem Imam was chief guest on the occasion. A large number of people from different walks of life, including members of the civil society, police officers, students, teachers and media men participated in the seminar.

President Society of Air Safety Investigators Pakistan (SASI Pakistan) Syed Naseem Ahmed, Director Automotive Design and Safety Lab Dr Omer Masood Qurshi, President and CEO of Turnaround Management Association of Pakistan Brig Ch Hamid Hussain and others addressed the seminar.

Kaleem Imam while addressing on the occasion said that careless attitude, underage driving, fatigue, drossiness, usage of mobile phone while driving and lane violations were the major factors behind fatal accidents. However, he said, the NH&MP always maintained standard of road safety in the country. He said that the department was committed to ensure enforcement of law on motorways.

The road-users would automatically adopt traffic rules and regulations once they enter the national highways and motorways across the country, he said, adding that the probability of accidents could be reduced in a number of different ways.

He requested the media to help in creating awareness on road safety so that the lives of the people, especially youngsters, could be saved. He also requested teachers, parents and all public agencies as well as private sector to play their role in promoting road safety.
