Duck halts work on £45m regeneration

NORTHAMPTONSHIRE: Work on part of a £45m regeneration scheme in Northamptonshire has stopped while council bosses wait for a brood of ducklings to hatch.
A nesting mallard duck was spotted near a wall earmarked for demolition at the Moat Lane site in Towcester. Two birds’ nests containing eggs were also found. A South Northamptonshire Council spokesman said work near the nests had been suspended to protect the birds. “We have to wait for nature to take its course and the eggs to hatch,” he said.–BBC
