ISLAMABAD- Aamir Atlas Khan refused to Pakistan Squash Federations (PSF) SOS call and decline to accept late invitation to joinPakistanteam for the World Team Squash Championship to be held inFrancefrom June 9-14.

The Aamir saga continued for last one month or so despite his repeated requests to the PSF to exempt him from trial matches as advised by the doctor, but the federation was stick to their guns and kept on forcing Aamir to appear in the trial matches if he wanted to represent the country.

Strangely, PSF president Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, despite being fully aware of the entire situation, didn’t intervene till the last moment and all of a sudden he decided to give wavier to Aamir at the eleventh hour.

The question arises in everyone’s mind that why did the PSF president take too much time to decide a very simple thing? Had Aamir was given exemption two three weeks ago, he could have started full training and could play the leading role inPakistan’s victory.

The PSF chief should seek detailed explanation from the SVP and the secretary for creating such a fuss and deliberately denying Aamir and country a sure short chance of winning laurels in the world’s most prestigious squash event.

The president should have given this ‘timely’ wavier when the time was ripe and now these waivers make no impact and Pakistan will suffer and miss Aamir badly in the world squash event and no one else but the federation will be responsible for the whole episode.
