Energy production on the cost of ecology loss opposed

Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF) held a meeting with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) team at its office and discussed concerns of environment conservationists about the proposed power plant in Jamshoro with funding expected from the Government of Pakistan [GoP] and the ADB.
The ADB team comprising officials from Manila and Islamabad also included staff from consultants firm Hagler Bailly Pakistan, Hidayat Hassan, divisional manager environmental program.
Miss F.Cleo Kawawaki, Principal Energy Specialist, Energy Divisions, Central and West Asia departmentADB led the team in the meeting to remove concerns raised by PFF regarding the project, earlier.
After discussion with the ADB staff, the PFF has taken up the matter to the Sindh chief minister, Governor of Sindh and ADB managers about the proposed power plant.
The copies of the letter have also been sent to Sindh Chief Secretary; Additional Chief Secretary; Secretary Environment and Secretary Finance to take the matter seriously to avoid environmental impacts on the community’s lives, livelihoods and over all ecology.
