Quetta Mayor visits city

LAHORE - Quetta Mayor Dr Kaleem Ullah Khan along with deputy mayor Younus Khan, XEN SWM Abdul Haq Zahri and coordinator Abdul Haq Achakzai Mir visited Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) and met Chairman Khawaja Ahmad Hassan and Managing Director Khalid Majeed.
The purpose of visit was to get know how of SWM system in Lahore and to seek help of LWMC for improvement of SWM in Quetta.
MD LWMC Khalid Majeed briefed the delegation about Lahore’s solid waste management System; waste disposal strategy, effective use of IT tools for monitoring of operations, construction of landfill site, biogas and other undergoing projects. Dr. Kaleem-ullah approbated public welfare initiatives of Punjab Government especially in the health, education and public services sectors. He asked for the technical support of experts of LWMC to improve system of cleanliness in Quetta so that beauty of provincial capital could be enhanced on the lines of Lahore model.
‘We are highly thankful to our Baluchi brothers for being in Lahore and feeling honored for their interest to improve SWM in our beloved province’ said Hassan. “The Punjab government will provide consultancy & technical assistance to Quetta Metropolitan Cooperation without charging a single penny,” he further said.
